- Nesting. Mallards usually nest on the ground in small patches of grass or in shrubs. Occasionally they build there nests in decaying vegetables. A mallard Ducks nest is used for a home and a place to protect there eggs.
- Brood Rearing. Brood Rearing is when the Mallard Duck spends most of there time making sure that the duckings are safe. That could mean menacing sure there warm or finding food for them. This point in time is the most important time in a ducklings life because thats when they aren't that strong. Thats also the worst time for the mother to, because she is putting all of her time towards them and not focusing on herself.
- Post Breeding. Post Breeding is the period in the annual life were Mallards have to find energy sources to fuel the ducklings. Plus making sure that they are healthy and regrow feathers during molting.
- Molting. Ducks depend on there parents and on there feathers. Molting is the process of getting new feathers. Ducks usually molt in the summer and in the spring.
- Fall Migration. Ducks migrate long distances from the cold to breeding areas where it is warmer.
- Wintering. Ducks fly south in the winter for reason of just being cold.
- Spring Migration. Ducks migrate because of the temperature. They can tell which way to go by just using the sun, the sun reflects a different way, the way in which they need to go to be warm again.
